OUR PHILOSOPHY

ARIE is the journey of self-care.

The idea is simple – the food we consume can build up our body’s natural ability to care for itself.

I came to that awareness when I was experiencing a low episode and in a frenzied mode to get out of a funk, I began researching. Then I came across this book ‘Molecules of Emotion’. In it, the author Candace B Pert, a scientist, explained the effects of drugs on the body.

As a society, we are made to believe in drugs as a cure-all to sicknesses. However, there’s a a bad side that accompanies that good. For instance, the classical understanding of depression is that there’s a lack of neurotransmitter Serotonin in the brain and the solution would be to inhibit the natural reuptake cycle in the brain, through antidepressants.

The bad – that might also destroy gut health as the guts that will normally be producing 95% of it, is hampered from doing so. And from what we know of gut health, 70% of our immune system is happening there.

That was the transformational point for me, the realisation that instead of treating the symptoms, we could care for the source! By partaking in nutrition.

Making kombucha was a start because it is a rich source of probiotics and that is known to be beneficial to gut health. Also helps that the fermentation radically increases antioxidants, enzymes, organic acids and B vitamins. All are great to support the immune system. It’s an ancient bioactive beverage that works.

What we create at ARIE, everything has been made with taste, quality and natural health in mind because I wanted to be sure that you can feel good about it! Most importantly, they are alive!

Arie uses a proprietary blend and method to create the best tasting kombucha. We come up with flavours you would understand, because they are sourced from actual fruits and herbs, natural and wonderful. The sweetness you experience mostly comes not from sugar but mogrosides, an antioxidant naturally derived (and organic) purely from the monk fruit (luo han guo). Sugar is in kombucha to keep our scoby (synbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast) happy and is mostly metaboliseD (about 2G left in bottle).

Improves gut health

The metabolism of tea by our scoby is controlled with care to get the most of authentic benefits. Live ‘probiotics’, in greek meaning ‘promoting life’, has long been known to be helpful to the intestinal microbiome, as well as body (microbiota).

Regulates mood

Did you know that the guts produce 95% of the neurotransmitter serotonin, even those used in the brain? It also produces many other neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, acetylcholine, and gaba, which are critical for mood, anxiety, concentration, reward, and motivation. Kombucha supports gut health and is also a tonic for your mood.

Protect against free radicals

Tea when fermented has enhanced antioxidant potential, along with glucoronic acid, ameliorates oxidative stresses in the environment.
